Mental Health Services

Starting Services

You have two options when it comes to starting services at Valley CSB. The first option is that you can call our Client Services Department at 540-887-3200 and request your initial "Intake Appointment". You will be asked to provide some basic information, such as contact and insurance information. You will be offered an initial appointment with a clinician. The second option is to come in person to our main office at 85 Sanger's Lane either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and request your "Intake Appointment". You will be registered and scheduled for an "Intake Appointment" the same day or at your earliest convenience. Please bring your identification, insurance or financial information. Services For Children

Counseling provides outpatient counseling services to children and their families in a clinical office setting. Services include individual, family, and group counseling.

Children’s Therapeutic Day Treatment Program provides intensive mental health services to elementary, middle, and high school students in the school setting. Children and adolescents develop the skills to effectively express emotions, manage behaviors, and get along with others so they can remain in the their school and community.


Case Management links at-risk children and their families to services which promote successful development in social skills, increased self-esteem, and skills for interacting in the community. They also aid families in accessing social services and providing parenting information.
Intensive Care Coordination Services serves children who are at risk of entering or who are placed in residential care. The purpose is to safely and effectively maintain, transition, or return the child home or to a relative’s home, family-like setting, or community at the earliest appropriate time that addresses the child’s needs

Prevention Services offers a broad array of substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion activities, for populations across the lifespan. To learn about our Prevention Services, please read the brochure below or visit our Prevention Services page here.

Services for Persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened or DeafBlind are offered to children, adolescents, and adults who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened, or Deaf Blind and their families to aid them in becoming healthier and more functional through therapeutic interventions. Therapists can communicate in American Sign Language. Regional consultation and advocacy is available upon request.

Juvenile Detention Program provides clinical services to juveniles who are in the custody of Shenandoah Juvenile Detention Center. Services include diagnostic assessment, case management, crisis intervention services, individual and group counseling, and psychiatric services.

Services for Adults

Counseling includes individual, group, and family psychotherapy. Services aid clients to become healthier and more functional.

Case Management is a comprehensive program. Services can include assessment and referral to services that can assist in everyday functioning and recovery, such as assistance with obtaining housing and linking to medical care for adults diagnosed with Serious Mental Illness.


Intensive Services provides interventions to adults with a history of hospitalizations due to various diagnoses (including Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder and Bi-Polar Disorder) and who have severe difficulty tending to basic needs. Also known as PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment).

Project for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) is a partnership between Valley CSB and local homeless shelters that provides connection to any needed mental health and substance use treatment. Services also include assistance in finding and establishing housing in the community, accessing medical care, employment and social services. Providers also work in coordination with other agencies to help manage the transition from homelessness to housing.

Gender specific services including individual and group services that have been adapted to address issues specific to women. Services include the role of relationships, parenting, childcare, sexual and physical trauma. Pregnant women who are registered and enrolled in the agency, especially those in need of substance abuse treatment will receive treatment priority and be admitted into treatment within 48 hours of their request.
